What's next: red light, seatbelt, insurance

Last checked 3 Nov 2026 · 1 min read

Short answer

Speeding is first. The Police page already describes red-light offences and insurance notices. Seatbelt and phone use: no start date found.

Speeding is the first offence reports say is being enforced. But the Police page already talks about more.

Red light: Police say a red-light offence happens when your tyres cross the stop line after the light turns red. If the light was yellow and you disagree, you can contest.

Insurance: Police describe a "provisional insurance notice". The owner then has 48 hours to insure the car. If not, an ENV comes, payable in 14 days. Check insurance with *920*57#. If you are insured but still get a notice, call your insurer.

Seatbelt and phone use: we have not found a police start date or camera fine amount. Some roadside fines lists show a seatbelt figure, but that is a different scheme. Do not trust WhatsApp lists. Confirm with 059 692 2402.

Start date: reports differ: some say 1 October 2026, others 1 November 2026. Police are the final word.

We will update this page when Police publish more.
