Short answer

Police say yes: you must know the limits even without a sign, and no camera warning sign is needed.

Many drivers ask: "There was no sign. Can they fine me?"

Police say yes. You must know the limits even without a sign:

  • 30 km/h near schools, markets, hospitals, churches, mosques and busy places
  • 50 km/h in towns
  • 90 km/h on highways
  • 100 km/h on motorways

Police put limit signs at the start of some camera roads and at some points along them. But a missing sign does not cancel the fine.

Police also say there is no need for a camera warning sign. A missing camera sign does not cancel the fine.
