Speed limits in Ghana
30 km/h near schools, markets, hospitals and places of worship. 50 in towns, 90 on highways, 100 on motorways.
Police list these limits:
| Where | Limit |
|---|---|
| Near schools, playgrounds, hospitals and clinics, churches, mosques, markets, shopping centres, processions, or any busy place with people | 30 km/h |
| Towns and built-up areas | 50 km/h |
| Highways | 90 km/h |
| Motorways | 100 km/h |
The 30 zone is the one that catches people. A market or a school on a big road still means 30.
Police say speed cameras are tested and checked by the Ghana Standards Authority.
Tips for drivers
- Watch for schools and markets, not just signs.
- Slow down early. Cameras may be anywhere on the road.
- Okada, pragya and aboboyaa riders follow the same limits.
These are general rules. Some roads may have their own posted limits.
